Ambassador Hellen Gichuhi is Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Kenya in France accredited to Portugal, Serbia, Monaco and Holy See. She is the former Deputy Permanent Delegate in the Permanent Delegation of Kenya to UNESCO the last 4 years. Some of Ambassador Hellen’s key achievements over the years include being the Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Civilian Component at the East Africa Community Armed Forces FTX Ushirikiano Imara held in Jinja, Uganda – a combined team of 900 military, 240 police and about 200 civilian component; leading the Africa Group (54 countries) technical team at UNESCO to develop a resolution which revitalised the Global Priority Africa Program; establishing the cultural diplomacy department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and is an astute negotiator leading various bilateral and multilateral negotiations. She was also a key contributor to the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference Secretariat in 2018 and has held other positions as: acting High Commissioner for Kenya in South Africa; Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya to South Africa, Director of Cultural Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Head of Public Affairs and Communication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Gichuhi is currently pursuing her PhD in International Mediation and holds a Masters in Diplomacy and International Studies as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
