The International Energy Agency (IEA) held its annual Ministerial meeting on 18th and 19th February 2026 in Paris where it was officially announced that Kenya will host the 2026 Clean Cooking for Africa Summit on the 9th-10th July, 2026. This 2nd major Summit will be co-hosted by the governments of Norway, the USA, and the IEA. This will be a platform to showcase innovations, deepen collaboration on policy, finance, and technology, and enhance universal energy access. Kenya and the IEA renewed their Joint Working Programme during the bilateral engagement between the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Opiyo Wandayi, and the IEA executive director, Dr. Faith Birol held at the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting. This laid the foundation for Kenya’s transition to a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future
