PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS
VATICAN, 7th December, 2024
Ambassador Betty Cherwon had the honour to present her letters of credentials to His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican on Saturday 7th December 2024, thus accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Republic of Kenya to the Holy See.
In his message to the new envoys, the Pontiff noted that they were taking on their responsibilities at a critical time for international diplomacy. The world is increasingly beset by problems that affect the entire human family. The Holy Father called for concerted efforts through diplomacy to tackle climate change, migration and refugees, and conflict resolution.
The Apostolic See has a specific nature and Mission that seeks to promote dialogue in the service of the common good without advancing political, commercial or military goals. The Ambassador later held discussions with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin that centred on regional peace, climate change and security which reflect H.E. President Ruto’s International priorities.
